The science behind gender differences

The idea that women come from Venus and men come from Mars is a popular notion, but it’s not exactly accurate from a scientific standpoint. While gender differences are real, they aren’t as polarizing as some may believe.

Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves. Let’s establish at the forefront. Men and women are of the same species. Other than that. Men and women could not be more different. The science of male and female brains tells us that gender is much more complex than we previously thought. Research has shown that there are some differences in the brain structure and function between males and females, but these differences are not as clear-cut as we once believed. For example, while men generally have larger brains than women, women have a higher percentage of grey matter in certain areas of the brain associated with language and emotion.

Additionally, research has shown that men and women use different parts of their brains when performing certain tasks, but these differences are not consistent across all individuals. The differences in brain structure and function between males and females are the result of a complex interplay between genetics, hormones, and environment.

For example, testosterone is known to play a role in brain development and is associated with certain masculine traits such as focus, aggression and risk-taking behavior. However, it is important to note that testosterone levels can vary widely among individuals and do not necessarily determine behavior or personality traits.

Similarly, estrogen is known to play a role in brain development and is associated with certain feminine traits such as empathy, diffuse awareness and nurturing behavior, but again, these associations are not consistent across all individuals.

Despite the complexity of the science behind male and female brains, there are still many myths and misconceptions about gender differences. While it is true that a woman’s brain is slightly smaller but the brain tissue is more densely packed with matter to accommodate for the female brain’s ability to absorb approx 3 times more information and process 1/3 times faster with more input than the male brain.

Findings and Reasoning: Men are single-focused and women have diffuse focus. (based on a Study carried out 1998-2004 Dr A. Armstrong texas university). (leading expert in the field of gender studies focus on the masculine).

How women think differently than men.

Women and men think differently, and these differences can have a big impact on how they approach problems and find solutions. Women tend to be more empathetic and intuitive than men, which means they are often better at understanding others emotions and motivations. Women also tend to be highly detail-oriented and better at multitasking, which can help us juggle multiple tasks and responsibilities at once. Additionally, women are often more collaborative and verbally communicative than men, which can help them build strong relationships and work effectively in teams.

All of these qualities can make women excellent problem-solvers and leaders. Women also have a much higher sensitivity to microexpressions, verbal inflections, nonverbal cues and body language. Take a moment and bring to mind the accepted ideal tribe/clan of cave people.. The average female cave gal (let’s call her Jane.. lol.) Jane’s literal survival depended on the people around her. Any sign of threat she would pick it up and act accordingly. That part of our brain hasn’t changed in a few million years.

A quick AHUH! moment..

For our female readers, I invite you to take a moment and honestly reflect on the last time you felt genuinely scared for your safety or life. Have you ever experienced a situation where you felt threatened or in danger of being attacked? (approx 95% of women will admit if they are being honest that they have felt threatened in the last 24 hours…) Incredible yeah? And a big shock to our male readers.

The reasoning for our reaction is again.. that little part of our brain that hasn’t evolved.. Another survival trait/behavior.. Jane and her tribe/clique chatted a lot, not only to ward off the predator who would have taken her for a snack if she were alone when they were gathering and foraging.. But also for connection. (no connection no clan. No clan, the bear will eat her)

The female mind also picks up over 200% more detail than the male brain.. why? Because food wasn’t on the doorstep. She needed to give precise instructions and directions on where to find the right food at the right time in the right location…

Why? if they gathered the wrong fruit or berry.. They would poison the clan/tribe. Again, if the clan dies, Jane is alone and the bear will more than certainly eat her.

Chatting was not only a defense mechanism BUT it was also for protection. However, it’s important to note that these differences are not absolute and that there are many variations between the sexes.

The trait to over-explain is widely critised and women often experience shame and regret around this incredible trait. Our over-explaining occurs naturally because we are highly detailed creatures. When this trait is harnessed the ultimate success is achieved. This is where we have the opportunity to use techniques such as NLP, CBT, DBT as well as Rapid NeuroCognitive Technique. Reshaping cognition and building new neural pathways to create deep and meaningful changes for the betterment of your life.

By recognizing, respecting and leveraging the unique strengths of each gender, we can create a more diverse and dynamic life experience that benefits everyone. Knowing we have this trait is the first step in utilising it for our success. Learning how to apply this in our daily lives by slowing down our cognition as women and knowing that we can deliberately control our thoughts is an incredible tool.

We have been led to believe in society that our thoughts are out of our control, that they come and go whenever they please and we just have to deal with it. Having the tools to confidently achieve this goal and using them daily is incredibly powerful.

Tool: to begin with, Create a clear space in your mind and actively and deliberately reject the intrusive thoughts that distract us from your journey and goals in life.

The power of multitasking

The power of multitasking is a well-known ability of the female mind, and it can be a valuable asset for many aspects of life. Women are able to juggle several tasks at once, making them highly productive individuals.

This unique ability can be attributed to the way women’s brains are wired. Women generally have a larger corpus callosum, the part of the brain that connects the right and left hemispheres, allowing them to transfer information between the right and left sides of the brain at a faster rate than men.

This makes it easier for women to multitask as they can efficiently switch between tasks rapidly and almost spontaneously due to their inability to focus on something for an extended amount of time. This is where our defuse focus is a superpower. It allows us to easily transition from one task to another with extreme ease and flow.

The power of multitasking is especially beneficial in the workplace, home life and in functioning agora style communities. Women can handle multiple tasks simultaneously, allowing them to be diverse in their tasks and goals. The biggest setback is not all tasks are completed in a timely fashion.

On the other hand, men being focused means they are more efficient when it comes to meeting deadlines and achieving their goals in total completion.  Additionally, multitasking allows women to be more proactive and take on new challenges as they arise, making them an asset to any team. However, although Men are single-focused, They are hyper-focused. But, they too can multitask. It’s a big myth that they can’t. They will easily multitask when they are focused on getting a job done But it must be through their single focus. Men do multitask but struggle to transition from one unrelated task to another task due to their hyper-focus.

The masculine brain needs time to “transition” due to the deep well of focus and level of commitment to attaining a goal.. (more on the masculine brain in our next upcoming article!

In regards to the female brain focus… we have diffuse focus.. no focus.. our brains pick up everything in our environment.. Which contributes to the ability to be able to seamlessly switch between tasks (it’s the blessing of estrogen). BUT when our environment is too cluttered it becomes overwhelming and we can mistake our anxious cluttered thought processes for ADD or ADHD. more than 85% of the time a woman who has symptoms of ADHD or ADD will find that it is her physical environment that is bringing up the symptoms of no focus and rapid/racing and intrusive thoughts.

TIP: Your home/work and personal environment will contribute to your anxiety. SImply because you are experiencing visual overwhelm. Visual overwhelm will often trigger extreme anxiety or heighten an already anxious mind and produce rapid and racing and often intrusive thoughts. (Task: Try simplifying an area in your home. start with a small space in your bedroom or maybe if you work at a cluttered desk.. remove everything within sight that you dont regularly use while you work.)

Another detrimental outcome of multitasking is women may have multiple tasks happening at the same time and more often than not, at the end of the day, some tasks are left unfinished to be picked up the following day. This is not a bad thing at all, we can cope with it though.

Be on the lookout for our exciting upcoming article exploring anxiety.

For the male brain, it’s overwhelming. For women to over multitask It can sometimes lead to stress and burnout, which can negatively impact productivity overall. Therefore, it is essential to find a balance and ensure that you are not overloading yourself with too many tasks at once.

Overall, the power of multitasking is just one of the many strengths of the female mind, when we find the flow of our own multitasking patterns, it can be leveraged to achieve success in various areas of life. The flow can be found through making sure the tasks you’re going to consolidate into the flow of multitasking must be of the same or similar vein. For example: cooking, office projects, tasks in the same location, Chores can be divided up into types of tasks and can be performed in unison where one can be started and left to continue as you then begin another which will in some way continue without your presence and so on. Ensuring you set timers for when they are finished or need more input.

This type of focus and motivation can be Harnessed with a few sessions of Rapid neurocognitive Technique.

Emotional intelligence and empathy

One of the many strengths of the female mind is the ability to access high levels of empathy, which are crucial skills both at home, within the family unit, community and in the workplace. This natural ability to read and understand people’s emotions, allows them to connect with others on a deeper level and create positive relationships.

Stemming from connecting with our babies and the elderly ensuring that we care for both and have a deep connection with them. ensuring the survival of the next generations. In leadership roles, empathy is particularly helpful for building trust and respect among team members.

It’s important to note that a woman’s ability to regulate her own emotions is also essential for successful interpersonal relationships in all areas of life. When a woman has the tools to regulate her emotions successfully, she is better able to manage conflicts and create a positive environment both at home and in the workplace.

However, when a woman experiences trauma, both psychological and physical, it can impede the brain’s chemistry, cognition, and neurological and cognitive function. Trauma can manifest in various forms, such as PTSD, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, extreme catatonic states, and others. In these situations, the brain may react in a way that makes it challenging for the individual to manage their emotions effectively and live a productive and fulfilling life.

One approach that can help women and men with trauma regulation and recovery is using Mind-Heart Coherence through RNCT. RNCT or the Rapid NeuroCognitive Technique, is a therapeutic approach that helps individuals resolve emotional trauma, and promote emotional regulation through Mind-heart coherence, balancing the right left hemispheres of the brain to promote the processing of trauma, trauma responses that were previously deemed unfixable, permanent and extremely debilitating.

By using RNCT, women AND men can learn to balance and easily regulate their emotional responses, process past trauma, release old trauma patterns and behaviors and improve their interpersonal relationships both at home, in their local community, with themselves and in the workplace.

Conclusion.

In addition to the importance of understanding and leveraging the unique strengths of women in the community, business and society, it is also important to consider the impact of mental health on individual performance and outcomes. While healthy psychopathy can be a valuable trait in some situations, it is important to recognize that not all individuals have the same mental health experiences or responses to stress and trauma.

For example, individuals who have experienced trauma may have different coping mechanisms and responses to stress that can impact their performance and decision-making. In order to create a truly inclusive and diverse working culture, it is important to consider the impact of mental health on individuals and provide support and resources to promote mental wellness through finding and working with a practitioner who is solution focused and whose aim it is to proactively hold the space for you as you heal, grow and thrive and then release you back into the “wild”.

By valuing and supporting individuals with diverse experiences and backgrounds, including those who have experienced trauma, we can create a more compassionate and understanding community experience that benefits everyone. It is important to recognize the unique strengths and perspectives that individuals bring to the table, while also providing support and resources to promote mental wellness and overall success. Together, we can create a more equitable and successful world for all.
